The workers compensation insurance carrier has the right to look at your past medical records in order to look for preexisting conditions.  They will send HIIPA compliant release forms for your signature.  This allows them to look at your records for the evaluation of workers compensation benefits.  Any other use of your records is prohibited.

Adjusters will deny a claim if the release forms are not signed and returned.  To file an appeal of the denial with the Court, you have to include a medical release form for the insurance carrier, so they end up getting the records anyway.  Save yourself the trouble of a year long lawsuit, and sign the forms immediately.

If a medical release form looks fishy to you, call an attorney at Atkin & Associates (801) 521-2552.  We are happy to take a quick look at it.
