The final decision from a Judge is issued in writing.  It is titled Findings of Fact, Conclusions of Law and Order.  Judges do their best to have their orders done within 90

days from the date the case was ready for decision. The Findings of Fact, Conclusions of Law and Order outline the facts presented, and the statutes and case law that affect the case. The Judge then discusses how she reached her conclusions. Finally, the Order outlines the decision of the Judge, and the payments required. All payments outlined in an Order must be paid within 30 days unless a Motion for Review (appeal) is filed. A Motion for Review can be filed by either side if there is an error in the order. Unless an appeal is filed, 30 days after the Judge signs the Order, it becomes a final order.  With very rare exceptions, a final order cannot be changed.

Once the payments are made, the court case is concluded.  But this does not mean that the workers' compensation benefits end.  Workers compensation benefits, such as medical coverage, can be a lifelong benefit.  Hopefully, with the decision from the Judge, the insurance company will pay correctly from that point onward, and life can return to normal. However, the Judge cannot always predict what benefits will be needed in the future. It is possible for additional legal action with the Labor Commiss
ion to be needed to resolve new disputes.
